How to use it
Questions & answers
Do I need to pay anything to use this?
No. It runs on your own free Claude account. You’ll just need to be signed in to Claude. Heavy use can hit the free daily limit (see below), but for normal use it’s free.
How many searches can I run on a free account?
Usually a few reports a day on the free plan. The exact number depends on Claude’s current free-tier limit, which can change, and on how big a list you ask for, since each report does several rounds of live searching behind the scenes and so uses more of your allowance than a normal chat message.
What happens when I hit my limit?
The tool will pause or stop returning results. Just wait for your daily limit to reset, or upgrade to a paid Claude plan if you want to run many reports back-to-back. Tip: search smaller, targeted areas to get more out of each run.
How long does one report take?
A few minutes. It searches in passes and fills the list as it goes. You’ll see “found so far” tick up. Leave the tab open while it works.
What kind of businesses does it look for?
Independent, locally-owned “mom and pop” businesses within roughly your chosen radius, the sort of firm that makes its own decisions and could genuinely become a client. It filters out obvious national chains and franchises but keeps local independents, family firms and small local multi-branch businesses. Add a type (e.g. salons, cafés) and it focuses there. Each result comes with a short one-line sales note.
How do I know when it’s finished?
While it’s working you’ll see a pulsing progress line like “Search pass 4 — 9 of 10 found so far…”. It’s done when that line disappears and you have either a clean list at your target count, or a short note explaining a shortfall (“Found 8 of 10 — …”). No pulse and no note means it finished fully.
Did it find every business in my area?
No, and it’s not meant to. “Done” means it reached the number you asked for, not every business nearby. A 10-mile circle can hold hundreds; the tool surfaces the most findable ones up to your chosen count. Want more? Just run it again. Each run excludes what’s already listed, so repeat runs dig deeper.
How accurate are the results?
They come from live public sources, so they’re usually current, but listings go out of date and businesses close. Treat the report as your research list: a quick glance at the business’s website before you call is part of the job.
Why are some fields (email / owner name) blank?
The tool only includes details that are publicly listed and never invents them. Many small businesses don’t publish an owner name or email, so those fields are often empty. Phone and website are the fields you’ll rely on most.
Can I get more than 10 businesses?
Yes, choose 15 or 20 in the “How many” box. Larger lists take longer and use more of your daily allowance, so start small when testing an area.
It stopped early / returned fewer than I asked for. What do I do?
Usually a daily-limit or busy-servers hiccup. Wait a moment and press “Build my list” again, or try a smaller number. It’ll pick up where it can.
Can I contact these businesses however I like?
Reach out responsibly. Calling is the safest and most effective route (and it’s the method this course teaches). If you email, follow the rules in your country. In the UK/EU especially, cold-emailing compiled contacts has GDPR implications, so phone-first is the smart play.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, but the report is wide, so it’s easiest to read and export on a laptop or desktop.
Is my search private?
Your searches run through your own Claude account under Claude’s normal privacy terms. The tool doesn’t store your reports anywhere, so export the CSV if you want to keep one.
