🚫 When AI talks your shopper out of buying
Let’s get into it.
THIS WEEK’S BIG IDEA
🤖 AI now leans on trusted creator reviews when it recommends products
IAB surveyed 2,200 people who shop with AI assistants. 56% prefer recommendations that pull in creator and reviewer perspectives, and 65% trust those recs more when they’re built on credible reviews.
The voices it reaches for aren’t the biggest accounts. They’re everyday buyers and real experts, and what earns trust is honest, hands-on detail and clear disclosure. Being the person who knows one product well is exactly what AI wants to cite.
Our Take: Publish one honest, hands-on review in your niche this week. AI now surfaces credible creator voices, so real expertise gets you recommended.
TOOLS OF THE WEEK
🎬 YouTube now tests your video opening for you
Upload up to three openings for a video and YouTube serves whichever keeps people watching, then does the same with thumbnails. Free in YouTube Studio.
🛒 Etsy lets you add helpers without sharing your password
Invite up to five people, a VA, a partner, family, to handle orders, listings and messages with their own logins. Your finances stay locked to you.
Our Take: A/B test three openings on your next YouTube upload to find your strongest hook, then add a helper on Etsy with Shared Access.
TODAY’S QUICK WINS
📦 eBay Live sales stop counting toward your seller status on October 15
From October 15, eBay Live sales no longer count toward Top Rated Plus or your seller level. Those ratings set your fees, so if Live drives your volume, your standing can slip without you touching a thing.
📌 Pinterest launches Visual Search Ads
A new format puts your product at the top of Pinterest search and pin close-ups, in front of people already comparing what to buy. Rolling out to advertisers now, and it suits anything visually distinctive.
Our Take: Run eBay Live? Protect your Top Rated status before October 15. Selling something visual? Test one Pinterest Visual Search Ad on your best photo.

📝 Three Holiday Paydays From a Gift Guide You Build This Weekend
Most people build a holiday gift guide, send it once, and move on. One narrow guide built in a weekend can go out three times across the season’s real buying windows.
Our Take: Don’t wait for Black Friday. Build one narrow gift guide this weekend so you can send it three times before Christmas.
AI SPOTLIGHT
🚫 AI is talking your shoppers out of buying
A Semrush survey of 2,338 US adults found nearly 81% of chatbot shoppers have dropped a purchase on the AI’s advice, usually after it surfaced mixed or negative reviews. Running ads inside a chatbot won’t change what it says about you next.
Our Take: Ask ChatGPT what it says about your product or affiliate offer today. If it surfaces bad reviews, fix those before spending on visibility.
UNTIL NEXT WEEK…
Here’s your short list this week:
🤖 Publish one honest review in your niche
🎬 A/B test the opening of your next YouTube video
📦 eBay Live sellers, protect your status before October 15
🚫 Ask ChatGPT what it says about your product
Three take minutes and one is a deadline, and only the deadline stops being fixable if you wait.
Talk soon,
Aidan
P.S. Next week, the small Q4 setup most sellers skip until it’s too late to matter.
